Ravaged by a rare cancer, Bruce lost use of his saliva glands and esophagus, and ate no food for more than a year. While he was rehabilitating from a fractured hip, an explosive fire consumed the Bruce home and all their possessions. Like a modern day Job, this righteous man lost nearly everything, only to have it returned in abundance.
