Growing up in the Smoky Mountains of North Carolina in the 50's was quite a challenge at times. Growing enough fod to feed the family and farm animals was hard work, yet rewarding, We not only grew enough food to feed us during the summer, but had to "put up" enough to get us through the long cold winter.
