In the past decades, with the decline of the Grand Narratives and the subsequent need for new historical and political orientation, literary studies have been reflecting on the role of literature in the world. Together with Jacques Rancière¿and in dialogue with Althusser, Foucault, or Fischer-Lichte¿the present volume analyzes this political turn of literary studies.

This study proposes a revised interpretation of Foucault's position on literature.It has always been argued that his interest in literature was limited to the 1960s and of a depoliticized nature. However, Foucault's unpublished works suggest a reevaluation of his position on literature by taking into account his political concerns. Thus, Foucault's ideas will be repositioned in the context of recent debates on the politics of literature.
