Arthur Raffles, a prominent member of London society, and a national sporting hero a regularly represents England as a cricketer in Test matches. He uses this as a chance to commit a number of burglaries, primarily stealing valuable jewelry from his hosts.

Raffles, Further Adventures of the Amateur Cracksman was also published as The Black Mask. After the dark turn of events at the end of The Gift of the Emperor, Bunny's done his time and without Raffles is a struggling ex-convict.
