1880. The author's chief aim in this work was to establish the art of prolonging life on systematic grounds, and to make known the means for accomplishing the object. But, to convey a proper idea of the whole, it was necessary to comprehend some related circumstances which gradually presented themselves to Mr. Hufeland's notice. This work is not designed merely for physicians, but for the public in general, and particularly young people.
