Fleet of Foot

Kaisershot, Kevin
Fleet of Foot
When one is describing that which is Fleet of Foot, you are generally saying that it is fast. The image that I conjure up for this piece is that of Mercury, the winged messenger, with the wings on his helmet as well as his shoes as he swiftly delivers his messages.

The Golden Amulet - March

Kaisershot, Kevin
The Golden Amulet - March
An amulet is defined as a small object worn to ward off evil, harm or illness. It is also thought to bring good fortune or good luck-much like a rabbit's foot or four leaf clover. The music then primarily portrays a positive outlook with only a brief section of danger." This is then fended off by the concluding section.

Soliloquy

Kaisershot, Kevin
Soliloquy
A soliloquy, or monologue, is essentially a conversation with yourself. The most famous soliloquy might be that of Shakespeare's Hamlet. To be, or not to be" may be one of the most quoted lines of Shakespeare. In this instance, the solo flute work composed by Kevin Kaisershot engages the player in a number of thought provoking musical displays, each of which must be individually addressed in order to move forward with the conversation.

Marching Along

Kaisershot, Kevin
Marching Along
Marching Along is an effective five-part percussion ensemble work by Kevin Kaisershot, and is an excellent vehicle for teaching the 6/8 meter to young musicians. Utilizing only two xylophones for the melody, the remaining rhythm is provided by a standard snare drum, bass drum, and in this small setting---a pair of finger cymbals.

Serpent Dance

Kaisershot, Kevin
Serpent Dance
Conjuring pictures of a snake charmer from India, Morocco or even Egypt, this dance for three xylophones with rhythmic percussion has all the ingredients of that slithering imagery. This piece requires seven players. Serpent Dance is written by Kevin Kaisershot for percussion ensemble.
