Looks at the career of Mitchell, an RAF Volunteer Reserve officer who served with 58 Squadron in 1940-41, was awarded the DFC and helped develop the first navigation training simulators in the US, where he was awarded the US Legion of Merit. Returning to the UK in 1942, he was personally selected to join the crew of Winston Churchill's private aircraft, and navigated Churchill to conferences all over the world.
