Eva Petulengro is probably of the last generation to live the traditional Romany life, and describes her magical childhood in the 1940s and 50s. She conjures up the characters in her family, their lives outside the rules of society but bound by their own world giving nostalgic and fascinating insight into a way of life that has now all but disappeared.
