A newly discovered and significant work from c.1851 by the little known Dutch composer Karel Arnoldus Craeyvanger in the form of an Opera Fantasy typical of its time. Not the usual dreary Theme and Variations too often seen, but a work worthy of the best of the composer's contemporaries, such as Mertz or Regondi. Just recorded by Johannes Mller on Naxos.

The Sonata for guitar solo was conceived in 1981 and premiered in 1984 by the author. It has been revised several times, the final version was finished in 1999 and dedicated to the great guitarist Zoran Dukic. It follows the outline of Classical Sonata Form but is heavily influenced by the rhythmical, melodic and harmonic language of jazz and traditional Balkan music.

New, original and resourceful arrangement of Bustamantes classic, which draws heavily on the original piano version. There are quite a few guitar arrangements of this piece, this is quite different. The Introduction is new, and new harmonies and expanded chords have been introduced throughout the work. Based on Anton Diabelli's famous early 1820s transcriptions of 15 of Schubert's Original Dances op. 9 for violin (or flute) and guitar, this new edition has been carefully revised, fingered and issed in a practical performing score.

The Toccata true to its title has been written in the traditional spirit, that is, as music driven relentlessly by the force of momentum, it is full of tension and expectation, virtuosity, and builds to an exhilarating climax. Unusually here it is followed by an Elegie, which eases gently out of the emotional heights of the Toccata, only to deliver us once more into a deep musical experience.

Interesting Spanish guitar music from Juan Parga (1843-1899) of the post-Trrega generation of Spanish guitarists, who were, and sometimes unrightfully, almost totally eclipsed by the great Trrega. Nevertheless, this music is interesting and worthwhile exploring.
