The Thief's Journal
Genet, Jean Part-autobiography, part-fiction, this is an account of the author's impoverished travels across 1930s Europe, through Spain and Antwerp with bits of occasional border-hopping. Appropriating the language of the Church, it creates a homily to a trinity of the author's own making - homosexuality, theft and betrayal.
