Chronic Kidney Disease: A Quiet Revolution in Nephrology: Six Case Studies
Examines changes in nephrology as it evolves from a focus on end-stage renal disease (ESRD) to treating earlier stages of chronic kidney disease (CKD). Once patients reach ESRD, treatments are limited to kidney transplantation and dialysis. However, the progression of earlier stages of CKD can be slowed, halted, or reversed when treated. Clinics are still establishing best-practice models, and reimbursement remains a challenge.

Morgan, Forrest E.
Deterrence and First-Strike Stability in Space: A Preliminary Assessment

Security in Iraq

Gompert, David C. / Kelly, Terrence K. / Watkins, Jessica
Security in Iraq
U.S. withdrawal could affect Iraq1s internal security and stability, which could, in turn, affect U.S. strategic interests and the safety of U.S. troops and civilians in Iraq. U.S. policy-makers need a dynamic analytic framework with which to examine the shifting motivations and capabilities of the actors that affect Iraq1s security. McGarvey, Ronald G. / Tripp, Robert S. / Rue, Rachel / Lang, Thomas / Sollinger, Jerry M.
Global Combat Support
The ability to rapidly deploy forces into austere locations is essential to the global power projection concept of operation. Materiel used by such expeditionary forces often does not deploy with the unit but is instead sourced from a global network of prepositioning storage locations. Goulka, Jeremiah / Hansell, Lydia / Wilke, Elizabeth
The Mujahedin-e Khalq in Iraq: A Policy Conundrum
