It has been the aim of the compiler, in order to keep the book within reasonable limits, to include only essential details of manipulation where this was possible without ambiguity. Each separate process will be found in a numbered para graph, and a method once described is indicated in the text by that number when it has again to be carried out. An epitome of most of the processes will be found at the foot of the fuller description.
