Most preserved examples seem to Offer a limited suite Of characters useful in their classification. The apparent paucity Of characters is in part illusory, for there has been a multiplicity Of names applied to comparatively few species in some areas, furthermore, there has been a limited amount Of well-preserved material with detailed records of color ation of living frogs.
