In these days of latitudinarian principle and feeling, when the Protestant religion of this kingdom, however understood by churchmen, or modified to the different views of the various sectaries, is said to be the religion of Christ, it is essential that the Established Church should show that her doctrine and discipline are catholic, - catholic in the full and proper acceptation of that term, and Protestant only in that sense in which she differs from the corruptions of the Church of Rome in particular, and from the corruptions of all other Churches and sects in general.
