Every reflecting man who contemplates the present state of the world, must be sensible of the important posture of its affairs: and every serious christian who views it in the light of divine revelation, must necessarily be struck with the present momentous signs of the times.

Perhaps it is not too much to say, that since the period which immediately preceded the manifestation of God in human flesh, there never has been a time more full of moment than the present.

The greatest efforts are making both by the friends and foes of Religious Truth. By the one party, the Scriptures are circulated, and the gospel preached, with unparalleled extensiveness, and instruction afforded to the young and ignorant in a manner and to a degree heretofore unknown, at the same time that numerous and various societies for the moral improvement of our fellow creatures are instituted in many countries.
