What! Another book on the Baptist controversy! Yes, gentle reader, another yet: but let not this offend you. I trust you will be able to master as much patience as will enable you to read the author's apology, which is a conviction that his friends and neighbours need very much to have their attention directed to the subject.

For many years he has lived and laboured in the vicinity of what he esteems the best baptist church north of Aberdeen. This has afforded him ample opportunity of marking the beauties and the blemishes of the system. His baptist neighbours must bear him witness, that, for nearly twenty years, he has made it his study to follow peace with them. They know that when occasionally called to preach or baptize in the circle of their operations, he has uniformly refrained from interfering with them or theirs.
