At the urging of Pope Paul IV in 1971, the leaders of monastic communities throughout the world were encouraged to help the pilgrim people of God rediscover an ancient way of prayer. This method came to be known as centering prayer. "An Invitation to Centering Prayer" is for seekers of an enriched prayer life, newcomers to centering prayer, and those interested in the intersection between Eastern and Western ways of praying.
