Thorough study of three siblings with idiopathic hyperlipemia has uncovered anew metabolic deficiency. These patients, unlike any others so far studied, failed to produce lipoprotein lipase after the injection of heparin. While this is evidently a rare form of hyperlipemia, it is gratifying to be able to take at least one cate~ gory of hyperlipemia out of the idiopathic wastebasket.
