This book, the publication of which has been unavoidably delayed, is purposed to combat the erroneous medical dogma of Naturalism, and, in so doing, to endeavour to remove one of the most formidable obstacles in the path of that therapeutical system which your Lordship has so much at heart - Homoeopathy.

I avail myself of your permission to dedicate these fruits of my labour to you the more eagerly as it enables me to show how highly I, in common with the whole of that profession of which I am a humble member, appreciate the services your Lordship has rendered to that great cause which concerns the interests of the world.
