In 1959, ten Russian hikers which were going for a grade 3 certification, the highest certification in the country at the time, started out on a hike for the Northern Urals of Russia. One hiker returned back early because of health problems which would save his life. When the other nine did not return, they sent out a search team. What they found was unimaginable. All nine very intelligent hikers walked away from their tent without their hiking boots and coats into the brutal environment in the dead of winter. That walk down the slope at a normal pace would lead to anything but normal. The mystery for the Russian investigators just got more bizarre down the slope, as if that barefoot walk getting there was not bizarre enough. What would make the nine intelligent hikers do the unimaginable?
