In Part One the author invites the reader or small group to consider how the words and actions of Jesus struck the people present at the time to gain a deeper understanding of the teachings of Christ. Reading the mind of Joseph of Arimathea as he ponders the import of the words and actions of Jesus, the Gospel of St. John comes to life. In Part Two some of those same words of Christ deepen the personal meaning of today's Holy Communion. Modern-day followers of Jesus find inspiration in the invitation of Christ to eat His flesh and drink His blood.
