Excerpt from Brothers and Strangers

My dear Son, - I was glad to hear by your last that you were in good health, and that your worldly prospects look so bright. I only hope you spare some time to reflect on the great concern of your soul's salvation. Relieve, oh, believe an affectionate mother's word, that it is best to seek the Lord in your youth. It is a constant grief to me that only one of my dear children as yet cherishes a hope, but my daily prayer is that I may meet you all in heaven. I have much anxiety and trouble at present, and am very fatigued, but I know that in this world I must expect tribulation.
