Buzz, Buzz! Essays of the Theatre (Classic Reprint)

Excerpt from Buzz, Buzz! Essays of the Theatre

It is characteristic of the grit of our soldiers that they find time and inclination for things of the mind while at the Front. This book on the theatre was prepared for the press and largely written while on active service. It is true that many of the author's brilliant heresies (or truths) may be traced to his pre-war connection with that nursing mother of clever critics, The Manchester Guardian, for which Captain Agate, in his civilian days, acted as dramatic critic. No more luminous and suggestive book on the theatre has appeared in recent years.

Messrs. W. Collins, Sons, & Co., Ltd. have pleasure in sending the accompanying volume for review, and they will be obliged if a copy of the paper containing the notice be sent to them on its appearance. It is understood that no notice will appear before publishing day.
