Composites have a wide variety of commercial applications. Aligned carbon nanomaterials composites have high electrical and thermal conductivity. In this research a novel approach was used to align Fe2O3 nanoparticles and Carbon nanomaterials in water and epoxy. Carbon nanomaterials and metal oxides nanoparticles were dispersed in water and polyalphaolefin oil to make nanofluids, and nanogrease. Alignment of carbon nanomaterials and metal oxide nanoparticles studies improved the thermal conductivity of nanofluids. Fe2O3 nanoparticles aligned in water without using an external magnetic field. By applying a magnetic field, the relative alignment of the Fe2O3 nanoparticles was enhanced. Ethylene glycol and sodium dodecyl benzene sulfonate dispersed Fe2O3 and CuO nanoparticles well in the fluids and avoided possible aggregation. Therefore, applying a magnetic field did not align Fe2O3 nanoparticles. pH values of Fe2O3 and CuO nanoparticle solutions were measured and did not influence the thermal conductivity value.
