Excerpt from Celebrating Fiftieth Anniversary of Organization, December 3, 1894-December 3, 1944: St. James Church, Evangelical and Reformed, Mt. Pleasant, N. CThis is to be an informal service In honor of former Pastors and members.Among the fine missionary-minded ministers of the Reformed Church in North Carolina was Rev. Paul Barringer. He was born near Mt. Pleasant, September 16, 1850, and died there February 10, 1925, at the age of seventy-five years. Even though his youth coincided with the Civil War times, he acquired a very liberal education, attending old North Carolina College at Mt. Pleasant, Catawba College at Newton, and later Heidelberg College at Tiffin, Ohio, where he prepared for the ministry of the Reformed Church. His pastorates were identified largely with the West Rowan charge, the Concord and New Gilead 'charge, the East Rowan charge, and finally the St. James and New Gilead charge. He was instrumental in the founding of St. Paul's Church, Enochville, St. James, Mt. Pleasant, and St. John's, Kannapolis.About the PublisherForgotten Books publishes hundreds of thousands of rare and classic books.
