The Army, Royal Navy, and Scamen belonging to registered vessels are not included in the numbers for the years prior to 1841 the Military at home were for the first time included with the general population in 1841 and persons on board vessels of the Royal Navy and Merchant Shipping in the harbours, creeks. And rivers Of England and Wales were included, as well as the Military, in 1851, 1861, and 1871.
