The Oxford India Short Introduction to Coalition Politics in India starts by tracing the historical roots of this form of politics in the country. By analysing different coalition experiments in India since 1967, the present exercise shall acquaint the reader with a unique form of government in which the role of the pan-Indian political parties-the Congress, and the Bharatiya Janata Party-is as critical as that of the regional parties in its formation.
