Excerpt from Confirmation in the Apostolic Age

Few words only are needed to explain the origin of this short Essay. Some years ago when I was Principal of the Clergy Training School, Cambridge, I used to lecture to the members of the School on Christian Doctrine, and part of the course on the Sacraments was devoted to the subject of Confirmation. If this book should chance to fall into the hands of any of my old pupils and friends of those days, they may perhaps be reminded of what was a happy and useful time to me and I should like to think to them also.
