Excerpt from Conventions and How to Care for Them
The suggestions in this hand-book are intended primarily for the many persons who have to do with the entertainment of conventions of a religious character. The plans suggested, however, may be made to fit any convention, from a local gathering of fifty to a national gathering of thousands. Modifications will be necessary, of course, but the principles governing the entertainment of a convention are here outlined.
The book is written specially for those who are locally responsible for the care of a gathering. Hence many considerations relating to the preparatory work which is done by the visiting body have been omitted. No attempt is made to cover such phases of the subject as are discussed, for instance, in the exhaustive and authoritative work shortly to be published by Dr. Joseph Clark, secretary of the Ohio Sunday-School Association.
