Updates:

* Update all references from DMS IV to DSM V.

* We felt that the book had a somewhat dark portrayal of depression, we will project a brighter, more hopeful tone.

* Treatment chapters will focus on teaching empirically supported strategies that cut across diagnostic categories.

* Updates throughout will be made to reflect changes in technology and social media.

* We will add motivational interviewing techniques and stages of change.

* Medications and other biological interventions will be updated. References to specific medications will be deleted as these change frequently. Instead, we will refer to general classes of medication.

* Will revise and add sections on experimental techniques (e.g. deep brain stimulation).

* Updates will be made to the chapters on lifestyle.

* Will include new sections about depression and racism.

* Will also include new section on depression or dysthymia during a pandemic.

* Case examples will be updated and made more diverse. Several examples will be included that involve pandemic-related challenges.

* Will update Appendix and Part of Tens.
