If success be the measure of merit, we should feel much flattered. It but seldom falls to the lot of any work that the demand for it should exceed its first issue. "Facts and Useful Hints relating to Fishing and Shooting" is of the fortunate class. Two large editions have been exhausted in five years, and now we are writing a few words of introduction to our third.

We have in this issue departed in no wise from the scheme with which we started. Information under the different heads has been amplified, and some erroneous matter dispensed with, whilst many fresh and important articles have been added. Our pleasant task is now ended, and whilst we write finish to our work we venture to express a hope that even the most skilled sportsman may find something to learn from "Facts and Useful Hints relating to Fishing and Shooting."
