There is, however, a common impression that in this world we can only learn about our humanity, there is not much, it is said, that we can attain in the knowledge of the Divine nature. This is the supposition among people of a certain order of mind. There are others who believe that there is a definite revelation of the Divine nature in the Scriptures, but that this revelation is to be found nowhere else. Such a View may be said to represent particular types of religionists - not uncommon - among Jews and Christians. The ordinary phrase, to believe in God, does not convey all that is meant by a revelation of the Divine nature. What is human, what is Divine, are questions which can be answered in the pages of the Bible, but also in the record of general human experience.
