Presenting a study of religion's place in Detroit's protest communities, from the 1930s to the 1960s, this book explores how the worlds of politics and faith merged in Detroit's African American community. It suggests that this fusion was - and is - particularly vital to African-American clergy and the Black freedom struggle.
