Lida nee Brown McMurry (1853-1942) was a primary school teacher in DeKalb, Illinois and an author of books for children. Among her works are: Songs of the Tree-Top and Meadow (with Agnes Spofford Cook Gale) (1899), Classic Stories For Little Ones (1900), Nature Study Lessons for Primary Grades (with Charles A. McMurry) (1905), Songs of Mother and Child (with Agnes Spofford Cook Gale) (1905), Fifty Famous Fables (1910), More Classic Stories: For the Little One (1911) and A Method for Teaching Primary Reading (1914).
