Excerpt from First Women Physicians to the OrientThe first woman's medical class of India, or of Asia either, was Opened May I, 1869, in Nynee Tal, under the supervision of the Rev. Dr. Humphrey, of the Methodist Mission. At the close of the season, four women were examined on their two years' course of study, before a board of physicians, one of them Inspector General of Hospitals for the Northwest Provinces, and were given certificates.
