Prophecy constitutes so large and important a part of divine revelation, that no apology can be needful for any attempt, however feeble, to elucidate its meaning, exhibit its fulfilment, and render the study of it interesting to the youthful reader.

Most works on the fulfilment of prophecy presuppose, on the part of their readers, a more extensive knowledge of sacred geography and general history than probably most of them possess, the writer of the following pages has therefore endeavoured to enliven his work by such an admixture of history and of descriptive geography, as he supposed would serve to render the subject intelligible and attractive to general readers.
