Growing Wings: Parrot's Day Out

A young parrot lives with his single mother in a jungle, and depends on her for just about everything - food, shelter, and company. Constantly worried that her son is too reliant on her, the mother parrot devises a plan to teach his son a lesson on self-dependence. One morning both of them fly out for a trip, only for the mother parrot to soon leave her son alone in the middle of the jungle to see how he copes with being alone. Terrified at discovering himself all alone, the son panics for a while before beginning a search for his mother. He keeps looking around and asks several wild animals roaming around the forest for any clue to his mother's whereabouts, but in vain. Tired and thirsty, he continues his search and upon the advice of a wise dog, heads for a nearby village for a drink. He finds a vessel with some water in it, but its level is too low for him to bend down and drink easily. Using his own wits, he finds a way to drink water out of the vessel, and finally realizes that he is old enough to take care of himself. Before long, he returns to the forest, meets his mother on the way and shares his adventures with her. The next day, the fledgling takes to the sky on his own.
