The six Hardcastle children were the envy of all who knew them. They had everything-a beautiful home, good looks, an overweening self-confidence, a comfortable existence. The arrival of a scrawny little sister, so different in every way, was an embarrassment, and they bundled her off to school as soon as she was old enough. But as the years go by and the cracks in their perfection become apparent, despised little Dolly shows that she has something which the Handsome Hardcastles singularly lack.
