Samwell is the town executioner. He finds no enjoyment in his work, and prefers to maintain the myth and anonymity that surrounds his station. His eager second hopes to be an executioner himself some day. When Samwell meets the king's cousin, Brie, he finds himself opened to the distractions and blessings of love. It strains his relationship with his second, and, ultimately, the king.
