Excerpt from Historical Notes on the Parish of Partney, Lincolnshire

I Would beg the intending reader of this little book to remember that it has been written by a country parson away from reference libraries, and that his first object in writing has been to rouse some interest amongst his parishioners for the past history of their parish. It is owing to the former of these facts that I have been unable to verify all my quotations, and to the latter that I have drawn my illustrations from neighbouring and familiar places, and have felt it necessary to put in some things about which the reader perhaps feels himself already sufficiently well informed. As a basis for my Notes I took the chapter on Partney in Oldfield's History of Weinfleet, published in 1829, and Bishop Trollope's Paper read before the Lincolnshire Archteological Society in 1865.
