History of the Catholic Church of Scotland, Vol. 2 of 4

Excerpt from History of the Catholic Church of Scotland, Vol. 2 of 4: From the Introduction of Christianity to the Present Day, From the Death of Alexander III. To the Suppression of the Catholic Religion, A. D. 1286 1560

Princess Margaret, the granddaughter and Accession successor of Alexander III., was in Norway at the time of the king's death. Her right to the crown had already been formally recognised by a Parliament held at Scone in 1284, and it was now requisite to appoint a regency to act in her name. The Parliament accordingly assembled on April 11, 1286, and proceeded to nominate six guardians of the realm.
