Many years ago, the BlackOut ended the world. Phi, an orphan separated from his parents during the chaos of the BlackOut, lives in an underground shelter protected from the lingering radiation bursts of the surface. The shelter is under the control of SCHISMA, a secret guild that predicted the end and planned accordingly, funneling technology and resources into humanity's survival. SCHISMA, believing the future of humanity rests in the stars, searches for visionaries to help propel them to the future. Phi agrees to join them, eager to learn everything he can about the events of the past and SCHISMA's plans for the future. As Phi begins training, he develops an affinity for sentient AIs, pioneering the field of AI psychology and working with SCHISMA's top scientists to overcome biology. But biology isn't the only thing they have to overcome, and amidst rising tensions from disparate factions on the planet, they will need all of their knowledge, and help from their growing list of allies, to forge civilization's path to the stars and build a future for all evolutions of humankind.
