Excerpt from Investigation of Apple Bruising Wenatchee, Washington: 1948-1949To investigate factors during cleaning and grading. 100 boxes of medium-size Delicious apples were picked with exceptional care so as to be bruise-free and were composited into duplicate samples of 50 fruits for all operations excepting box-dumping for which it was necessary to use full box samples.
