A history of the Caribbean island of Providence, on which a rival boat to the English puritans' "Mayflower", the "Seaflower", founded their own puritan society in 1630. The society failed, and the Spanish invaded 10 years later. Blending history and travel writing, Feiling also looks at Providence today, now part of Colombia.
