These are the generations of the heavens and of the earth when they were created, in the day that the Eternal God made the earth and the heaven. And every plant of the field was not yet in the earth, and every herb of the field had not yet grown: for the Eternal God had not caused it to rain upon the earth, and there was no man1 to till5 the ground. But there went up a mist from the earth, and watered the whole face of the ground. And the Eternal God formed the man1 of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life, and the man1 became aliving soul. And the Eternal God planted a garden eastward in Eden, and there he put the man1 whom he had formed.
