Julia Jackson Christian (Classic Reprint)

Excerpt from Julia Jackson ChristianThe only child of General Stonewall Jackson that survived infancy was born on the 23rd of November, 1862, in Charlotte, North Carolina, at the residence of her maternal aunt, Mrs. James P. Irwin. As her birth occurred during the war when her father was engaged in the service of his country, the home of her parents in Lexington, Virginia, was closed, while her mother spent those eventful years among her kindred in North Caro lina. From her very birth, she was so extremely like her father, that when she was placed in my arms for my first look at her, my heart was thrilled with delight and thankfulness at seeing every feature of his repro duced in her tiny face. This likeness grew with her growth, and was often remarked upon by his old soldiers - sometimes causing tears to spring into their eyes as they saw the resemblance in his child to their beloved commander.About the PublisherForgotten Books publishes hundreds of thousands of rare and classic books.
