Just for Comfort

What do you do if your only child, an estranged, abusive, alcohol-besotted son from a failed marriage, demands blessings and your attendance at his wedding? What if his fiancé is so obnoxious, grasping, and terminally stupid she will only make matters worse? Kill the bride-to-be. At least, that's Frank's solution. Ralph Osborne's darkly comic re-appraisal of familial dysfunction begins post-mortem. Frank, who has just discovered that he is terminally ill and that his son may not be his, wonders what to do about the body. When the doorbell rings, the ensuing chain of events propels him through a fast-paced series of thrilling, terrifying, and hilarious, encounters -- particularly with local law enforcement officers and his ex-wife. Throughout it all he is assisted by Ray, a gentle giant, hirsute, unwashed, and food-addicted, Ray's the only friend Frank knows he can trust. A thriller that reads like an end-of-the-road movie, this novel is set against a background of corrupt cops, date rape drugs, blackmail, marijuana use, and bird hunting. There is also a healthy dose of poison kielbasa, eastern philosophy, and petty greed. And if Frank and Ray aren't careful, they just might learn a thing or two along the way.
