Excerpt from Leaves From Sherwood Forest

I had come upon the Great Cliffe Road from Lincoln, and turning down the old lane, by the park wall, leading to the little hamlet of B soon arrived at my friend's gate. A broad gravel walk, running between beds of shrubs and flowers, led me by the church and the gra ve yard, to the Rectory. The gable ends of the old-fashioned looking house were covered with the glossy leaves of the ivy, which spread over the leaning roofs, and gave to the whole build ing a very picturesque appearance.
