Let Her Be Holly

Nine year old Holly loves her life on the sheep farm in the Highlands of Scotland where she has lived with her grandparents since she was born.
All she knows about her parents is what her Grandma told her when she was five years old: that her mother is in heaven and her father went to live in Canada when she was a week old. She has never heard from him since, but as she grows older she becomes curious about him and begins to ask questions.
No-one will talk about him, but finally blunt outspoken Aunt Meg tells Holly that nobody wants anything to do with her father because they blame him for her mother's death, and Holly is deeply shocked.
Much to her dismay, Holly has to go and live with Aunt Meg when her grandmother becomes ill, but eventually after the ups and downs of her life with Aunt Meg, she is surprised and delighted to be invited to go to Canada to meet her father, and the part of her life that was missing is now complete.
On her return to Scotland Holly realises she is the only person who is able to reconcile her father with the rest of the family, and courageously she takes up the challenge and finds a way to bring him into the fold once more.
Shirley Ballantine published her first book in 2014. Woman of the Promise tells the Biblical story of the most import ant family tree in the history of the world. This is her second book, and she is also a published author of Poetry.
