"Disreputable weather! - simply disreputable!" murmured Mr. Atwood.
He looked out from under the shelter of his umbrella comfortably as he spoke.
The rain was falling from the heavens in whirling sheets of silver. From a roof just ahead of him the spouting had given up carrying off the flow as hopeless. The water ran over it in streams, which the wind caught again and flung aside in the air, breaking them into raindrops once more.
